My husband and I have used Vonage (VoIP) for his business phone line for the past four years and have had little problems. The phone line costs $46.23 with taxes, but we have unlimited long distance calling. We thought that was a pretty good deal and had to have the line for work purposes. Well, we have since discovered the Magic Jack.

It costs $39.99 to buy the Magic Jack which includes the first year of service. It is only $20.00 a YEAR after that- without all the ridiculous added monthly taxes and fees you get with standard phone service. If you're spending $30-$40 per month for your phone, you can quickly see how much money you can save on annual basis.
Like our previous Vonage service, We have unlimited long distance if you have a high speed internet connection. The Magic Jack works on any computer, so if we go anywhere that has a high speed connection we can take it with us. The setup is very simple. Plug one end of the Magic Jack into a USB port on your computer, and plug a normal phone into the other. Truly idiot proof. You can choose a local phone number and you get voice mail with call waiting. The voice mails are recorded in .wav files that you receive via an instant email. Obviously you can't use it if the computer is off or the internet is down, but otherwise it is a great service. Check it out at http://www.magicjack.com/1/index.asp.
